Oceanic Flight 815 on BBC News

Its been over 5 years ago since I started making fan videos for LOST. I continued making promo trailers and promos until the end of LOST and even with a lack of experience in video editing, dodgy quality and sound and it being such a long time ago in the advancement of technology I am pretty proud of these:

In July 2009 I put up this clever little video: It's how BBC news would've broadcast that Oceanic Airlines had gone missing. Check out the news ticker tape along the bottom for more LOST goodies.

Here are a few more that I made:

Including this one which I made a week before the finale:

Happy LOST day!

10 years on: LOST

 LOST

Today it is 10 years since the start of LOST. In my opinion the best show I have ever seen, as you probably know.
22nd September 2004 is when it all began!

So in celebration I have picked out my 10 top favourite episodes:

Okay I love LOST and its hard choosing a favourite episode but there are a few that I really did enjoy. Along with all the Season Finales and season opening episodes here are a few. There are definitely others I probably have forgotten about! I need a re-watch!

Top 10 episodes, in no particular order

Season 1 Episode 18: Numbers  - Now this episode was all about one of my favourite characters Hurley, and a part from the spooky, black smoke monster which had already been heard before this, it was the first time where we got a feel that there was a bit more mystical and --- to the show. It looked at how Hurley believed he was cursed after winning the lottery with "the numbers" 4 8 15 16 23 42

Season 2 Episode 7:  The Other 48 days - This one looked back at the horrific events that happened on the other side of the island when the survivors of the tail section tried to adapt to island life and where attacked by "The Others." A much harsher experience than the other survivors.

Season 3 Episode 1: Tale of Two Cities: Yes I know this is a season starter, but I think it began with one of the best scenes of the whole show. It started with a woman we had not seen before, in a fully functioning house in an everyday village. But then suddenly, the ground shakes and the lady runs outside to see Oceanic 815 crash in the skies above. This was of course Juliet and the village was on the island!

Season 4 Episode 5 - The Constant: Now this is probably my favourite mid-season episode. All about another favourite character, Desmond, and how he had side effects whilst leaving the island to the freighter, in which his consciousness travelled between his present self and his 1996 self.

Season 5 Episode 6 - 316: How everyone got back to the island is revealed in this episode. And it is revealed that Jack, Kate and Hurley have time-travelled to 1977. With an exciting lead up to the Ajira Airways flight and the use of the lamppost station and Eloise Hawking. I also enjoyed the emergency landing by Frank Lapidus of Ajira Airways in a following episode.

Season 5 Episode 12 - Dead is Dead: We finally got a good idea of what the smoke monsters use was for on the island, to be judged. All this prior to revealing that it was actually Jacobs brother.

Season 6 Episode 6 - Sundown: The Man in Black / Smoke Monster is coming!!! Sayid has resurrected with darkness within him!! The most memorable thing about this was the ending. After the smoke monster has rampaged through the temple killing many, Claire, Sayid and MIB rejoin in a destroyed temple. They then leave and join a large group in which are ready to battle Jacob and the other survivors. Cue slow motion walk, stern looking faces and creepy Claire singing "Catch a Falling Star."

Season 6 Episode 9 - Ab Aeterno: A total new side to the show, focussing solely on Richards life before and on the island. A very exciting and emotional episode!

Season 1 Episode 1/2- Pilot Part 1/2: The whole opening sequence of the
Pilot was just fantastic. So much shock drama and action! With lots of explosions, screaming blood and gore with the beautiful backdrop of the island, you came out after watching feeling you have gone through the whole thing as if you were there! Very powerful stuff and the mystery of the "monster" at the very end was exciting and teased of the mystery of the island. What a show it turned out to be!

Season 6 Finale - The End: It still has to be there in the top 9. Now its sad that the show was ending of course but the excitement on the island and how they tied things up along with the beautiful and highly emotional scene in which the whole group rejoin in the afterlife and "move on" together. I am one of the people that loved the ending!

Time for another rewatch I think :)

A big decision and a new chapter

Apologies for the lack of blogging over the past few months. I have been extremely busy and it has been crazily chaotic and very stressful.

But things are about to change! So here is a little warning that this blog contains some emotive text.

So a lot has happened over the past few months and I have had to make some life-changing decisions and important career choices. There has been some amazing moments but other times where I have felt so confused and lost. There have been points recently in which I have stood back and thought where is my path taking me? What other options do I have?

I was quite happy in my job and working for a global company, but felt restricted in the pathways I could take and felt I had a huge gap in my knowledge in my area of work. I also began feeling the restraints of being far away from home, family and friends and though I had amazing weekends when friends and family came to visit, it made me realise how much I miss them. Though its only really a few hundred miles away it began to feel like I was on the other side of the world. It was hard to get home and in fact hard to get anywhere in this area with the poor transport links on both road and rail; taking over 6 hours to get home at a great expense. I am a strong person and have managed okay being far away, but realising what you miss and that there is a lot more to making your life happy; it began to make things that little more difficult. You only have one life and you need to make the most of the opportunities available to you surrounded by the people you know and love.

I felt I was not making the most of my opportunities. Therefore I looked about studying a masters, something that would give me so much more knowledge in my area of work and many more opportunities at more locations across the UK.

After feeling confident with an application to Imperial College London, I was devastated to find that an error with one of my references meant that it was not accepted and I was not notified by the university of the problem with the reference or an impending deadline which surpassed. Nothing I could do, including providing another reference immediately would change there minds. It was horrible feeling knowing that it wasn't even me that caused the problem and that it would be a whole year for me to apply again, a whole year feels like a very long time.

A short while later I applied for the same degree at the University of Leeds and I am happy to announce that I have recently been accepted. Its something that sounds exciting and challenging but definitely important for my career. This has meant that I would be leaving my job. An extremely tough decision and very upsetting having to hand in my notice. I have been through everything over and over but this seems the best thing. It will make me a lot happier and provide further extensive knowledge for my area of work. This would also mean that I will be returning home back to the good ol North West! Which is very exciting!

It means a very challenging, a very hectic and a very financially tight few months!

I have enjoyed my time on the East Coast, and find the area beautiful (though there is a severe lack of hills.) But I am excited to return home I have some fantastic memories and some epic weekends with friends and family over. There have been some great things to come out of this adventure, now knowing a lot more about myself, a lot more about people and a lot more about life. There are memories I will never forget and moments that I will cherish forever.

I hope you feel along with me that it is the right decision.

Its a new chapter.
A big challenge.
A new adventure.
