But I have had my fair share of epic Halloween Parties and outfits especially whilst being at university! Next year I am going to host my own Halloween Party as I have missed out this year!

So here are a few of my spooktacular outfits from over the years:

PETRIFYING PRISONER

So far I have only had two trick or treaters! This bowl of sweets is now mine mwhahaha!

Halloween: Remember this: BeatFreakz

Anybody remember BeatFreakz, a Netherland dance group who released a couple of tracks way back in 2006. As its Halloween I thought I'd bring these guys back from the dead as most of their tracks were er superfreaky....

This one: Somebody's Watching Me using a sample of Rockwells Hit which peaked at number 3 in the UK.

And the follow up: SuperFreak remix of the Rick James' song.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Eminem - The Monster

Good timing for Halloween is this spookily titled track The Monster, new from Eminem. This new song is already reaching heights in the top tens around the world and he is joined again by his good pal and pop princess Rihanna!! The song is released just a week before "Marshall Matters LP 2"

Take a listen here:

Another great song and rap combined by these two great artists!

Eminem raps about his "Monster" that haunts him whilst Rihanna sings about how she embraces hers:

I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed
Get along with the voices inside of my head
You're trying to save me
Stop holding your breath
And you think I'm crazy
Yeah, you think I'm crazy
Well that's not fair.

St Jude Storm: The Stats

First things first, who the hell is St Jude and why is it the name of todays storm..... The patron saint of lost causes/ Monday is the feast day of St Jude. one Jesus' twelve apostles.

Anyway here are some statistics for one of the worst storms to hit the UK in many years. Though for many from the midlands up there was only a slight breeze with no big problems the southern parts of the country were battered with strong winds and heavy rain.

A Tree fell on these houses which also caused a gas explosion killing 2 residents.

FATALITIES
There were 4 people were killed during the storm:
A man and a woman were killed at a house in Hounslow, west London, following a suspected gas explosion caused by a falling tree. A teenager died after a tree fell on the static caravan where she was sleeping in Kent, and a man in his 50s was killed when a tree landed on a car in Watford. A Young Boy is feared dead after being swept out to sea in New Haven, East Sussex.

TRANSPORT
Network Rail stated it had been "worse than expected", with more than 100 trees on the lines.
130 flights were cancelled at Heathrow along with hundreds of trains. Over 200 people were stranded on ferries in the English Channel after Dover port was closed.
POWER
Around 600,000 homes lost power during at the height of the storm, 200,000 of which are still cut off. The Dungeness B nuclear power station in Kent is using diesel generators to power its site after both reactors shut down automatically due to a power cut.

WINDS
The strongest gust of 99mph (159km/h) was recorded on the Isle of Wight.
Storm force 11 winds were reported at Dover.
Overall the storm was not one of the worst storms we have had, the medias portrayal was heavily biased on southern areas. If the area was more affected in the North would the media coverage have been as big?

Drive Through Skeleton Prank

Its Halloween this week!
So I'm gonna grab some great videos, pictures and news regarding all things spooktacular and creepily!

Bastille: Live

So on Tuesday Night I was extremely lucky to have tickets to see the best new act around this year, BASTILLE! Having missed out getting tickets during their first tour earlier this year, I ensured that I got some for this short tour. They are also doing a short tour at the beginning of next year as well.

They were fantastic. Such a good live act singing a handful of covers along with their best hits from their album Bad Blood. They also included some new material, which sounds really exciting and I cant wait to get another listen when their extended edition of their album "All This Bad Blood" is released later this year.

After raving about these guys from the very start of this year it was great to finally see them live! I watched them at Manchester Academy in an extremely hot room filled with fans many of which seemed to be young teenagers! With a lot of screaming girl fans. The support acts were also great too!

One really annoying thing was how many people film songs, take in the experience don't watch it behind a screen. There was a few people that filmed every song. The live act is miles better than watching it on a grainy screen with poor sound.

It was great to see them live and having a great time with many a laugh and audience interaction including Dan running into the audience and the band getting the whole audience to get low to the ground and jump together at the same point of song!

It was another great gig and was great to celebrate with them on their amazing year!

Alton Towers: Scare Fest

So I have had a busy week! Went to see Bastille on Tuesday, watched the new Tom Hanks Captain Phillips film (which was awesome) and then on Wednesday went to Alton Towers!

I have been to Alton Towers many times and nearly every time it has been sunny! This time did not disappoint either. I was lucky to choose the sunniest day within this stormy weather we have been having. I was very excited to go as it was the first time I went on Smiler the new 14 loop roller coaster!

Also another amazing thing about going this week (or next) is that it is Scare Fest, 2 weeks of events surrounding Halloween. The park is open till 9pm and you can ride the coasters in the dark!

After a very long journey stuck in traffic, we arrived later than planned at midday. But as the park was open till late it didn't matter. It was extremely quiet, which meant that there were hardly any queues. I got on all the coasters including the Smiler, after a short mechanical delay (which seemed to happen often) and it was worth the wait! Though it seemed that not all features were working on the "Arms" the coaster itself was great! It makes you completely dizzy and has a few surprises in their too! The vertical lift hill is a crazy and great way to get up high. From the very start it is mind boggling and surprises you! Another great thing is that it lasts a long time, ride time is much longer than other rides in the park and the numerous cars ensures that the queue moves quickly. In total it was only about a 1 hr wait which is great for a new ride but only as it was a quiet day.

We got on all the rides with time in between, including the log flume, which was very regrettable as it was my idea and wasn't the warmest of days. I was at the front and laughed that the boat covered most of my body. But after the first drop I completely regretted it. Along with being splashed in the face the weight at the front tipped the boat forward so a waterfall of water came pouring over my body along with the water rushing to the front of the boat. I was drenched and two more drops to go!
I was cold and wet for the rest of the day!

The great thing about scarefest is that the theme park is full of Halloween decorations and characters roaming around. There are also free mazes you can enter and further more scarier mazes you can pay for. The free mazes were great! I went in the zombie one, which may have been a little short but was great! Amazing detail in set design and the characters very realistic! My friends shot through screaming leaving me alone!

As it went dark at around 6pm there was 3 hours of darkness to roam the park and ride the coasters! Being in a theme park at night is amazing especially walking through gloomy wood! My favourite rides in the dark are of course The Smiler , Thirteen and Air with sections in which you have no idea where you are going as you go through the forest!

I would definitely recommend going! Its on next week too and it was great going during such a quiet period when I got to go on most rides twice!

Autumn Storms on their way

This weekend Britain is facing a battering as the another big storm rolls in from the Atlantic. We are set to be ravaged by two low pressure systems moving across from Saturday with conditions worsening on Monday. The deepening area of low pressure is set to bring storm force wind and heavy rain with the Met Office already giving an early Amber Weather Warning for parts of England as the storm moves in.

Successions of heavy rain fronts have been plaguing the weather over the past week, but it is expected that these weekends weather will be even worse! With the jet stream pushing southwards and at a time when it is strong, it is going to draw in some moist warm air which will rapidly deepen an area of low pressure moving in from the south east. There is still some uncertainty at present but at its worst the storm could bring winds of 60mph and gusts of up to 80mph along with heavy rain. With leaves and branches being blown from the trees and blocking drains floods are very likey. The track sets to be straight across England and Wales with Scotland and N. Ireland.

Smog shuts schools, highways and airports in China

Parts of Northern China are being severely affected by smog which has brought roads and flights to a standstill. Some schools were forced to close. The concentration of particles some of which are harmful have been measured to be almost 40 times above the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.

The northern city of Harbin in Heilongjiang province was one of the worst areas affected with visibility reduced to below 50m. It is believed that the smog has come after many people switching on their heating systems for winter. All highways in the area and airport were forced to shut, with the police allowing drivers to drive through red lights in places when the traffic lights cannot be seen. China has had major problems with smog and pollution levels. They can be very harmful and affect health with the old and young being most at risk from the poor air quality.

Huge Oar Fish "Sea Serpent" found at Californian Coast

A huge Oar Fish has been found along the Californian Coast by a lucky marine biologist who brought the five metre long silvery carcass of the dead fish ashore. The fish, which had died of natural causes is believed to be the origin of sea serpent legends.

Jasmine Santana was snorkelling when she spotted the creature of which she dragged  by the tail for more than 20m. Many others waded in to the sea and helped her bring it to shore.
The Oarfish are rare with some growing up to 15m found in deep water.

The fish was being studied by local biologists but wish to reconstruct the skeleton after a burial so it can be displayed.

Woman survives being hit by two trains at crossing

A woman being chased by police in America was hit by not one but two trains on the same crossing.

Check out the video below:

The 29 year old woman was racing at speeds over 100mph when she hit the side of the first train and was left over a second track. One of the officer attempts to free the driver but is unaware that another train is approaching. He gets out of the way just in time, but the car is hit and the woman still inside. The lady only had a broken arm to her injuries but the car was heavily damaged.

Huge fragment of Russian "Meteorite" found in Lake

Divers in Russia have been working away to recover possible fragments from the meteorite that exploded over Chelyabinsk earlier this year. The meteorite was captured on film by over a hundred on board cameras in vehicles in the most video-recorded impact to date.

Today the divers brought back what they believe to be a 570kg chunk of the space rock which is thought to have plunged in to Lake Chebarkul in central Russia leaving a 6m-wide hole in the ice almost 8 months ago.

If it is confirmed it is extra terrestrial, it would be the largest fragment of the meteorite discovered so far.

Take a look back at the footage of the meteorite exploding across the sky. in which over a thousand people were injured.

Dream Diary: Pet Killer Wales

I have put one of these up for a while, probably because I haven't been dreaming much that I know of recently. But this was a huge and great dream to share!

So the earlier stages, no one really remembers. I was at some familiar place by the sea, on a night out with friends and some old friends kept popping up. It was only early on in the night but I seemed to end up finding a bed and going to sleep. I then woke up, within a dream (Inception stuff right) and it felt as though I had had a long night sleep but to my surprise it was still the same night out. I met up with my friends and told them I had just been asleep! It was very strange and there was a lot of strange pubs and boats and house parties.

The next thing I know I am going for a meal with family and we are in America! We were ordering drinks and was worried about getting IDd, though I am over 21! My cousin asked for an alcoholic drink and got her ID taken off her to be inspected and so did I, asking for a bit of beer. They came back and refused to believe that my cousin was 21 but believed I was (FOR ONCE) so I got my drink which was 1/2 a cup of beer, they took my "a bit of beer" literally.

Next moment I was in my home, which I do not recognise now I look back and there was a huge pool in the backgarden and too my amazement I had two pets swimming around my pool! They were 2 young yet still huge Killer Wales. They were the cutest of animals and trained well. They kept nibbling at my fingers as I tried to stroke their tongue or head. They kept splashing me and squirting water at me with their mouths and I was teaching them to clap and spin! Now that was a good experience, it felt so real! So I was swimming with them and having a great time and was about to get them delivered to a friends house to show off then I woke up -- in real life this time!

Bastille announce extended version of Bad Blood and Brand New Single!

ALL THIS BAD BLOOD

Bastille have announced that they are releasing an extended version of Bad Blood, an already very successful album. To be released on November 25th the band have added new songs and also some covers! To be named "All This Bad Blood". The second disc features the unheard songs and is split into two parts, with the first being the new material and older unreleased tracks and the second half being a range of covers from the bands two mixtapes "Other Peoples Heartache Part 1" and "Part 2" incorporating two new tracks only recently recorded.

Earlier this year I talked about a few epic covers that Bastille have done and to my astonishment I found two whole mixtapes of over 20 songs of covers and mixes which are all out of this world!
Take a listen to some of the epic covers here: Other Peoples Heartache . They have also over this year done to Radio 1 Live Lounge covers which have been hugely successful including their recent Miley Cover with unique twists!

The New single to be released from Bastille will be one of their most successful covers from Other Peoples Heartache which has actually been out for longer than a year which was also used on the Dancing On Ice trailer last year. The song "Of The Night" is a cover mashup from 90s dance hits by Snap "Rhythm of the Night" and Coronas "Rhythm is a Dancer" which is absolutely fantastic. And here is the video!!!!

Expected to be released 24th November
Speaking to NME Dan from Bastille said: "The second part is a mini version of one of our mix tapes which weaves in a couple of new songs that show the extremes of where we're heading on our next album; one guitar-driven and the other way more electronic."

#OnMyWalk

So today I took the dog for a walk as I came home from work (I nearly put school then...now that's been a long time since) and I realised that for me, today is the first day of Autumn, gone are the nice warm dry days and now in its place a much more different feel.

When I left my house it was bright and sunny, by the time I reached the end of the road it was downpouring! I sheltered from the heavy rain beneath a tree which was not a good idea as it was also blowing a gale! And to my surprise I was hit right in the face by a small twig and several leaves. It was very unpleasant and nearly knocked me off the pavement. This was my first inclination that it was now Autumn (or Fall for you Americans.)

The wind was a howling and gusty meaning that at times you felt like you were being blown off your feet! Now my little dog is scared of lots of things, loud noises, car exhausts, wagons, other dogs, most people, window cleaners and lollipop men/women to name a few but this time of year isn't a good one for little Jess as she is also petrified when a line of leaves are being blown across the pavement, she'll go a running! My dog seriously needs to MAN UP! Though she is a bitch (female dog) and has constant puppy dog eyes, a right cutey!

Also, however, during this walk, the crazy little mutt decided it would be a great place to stop and poop in the middle of the road..... I then had to drag her across to make it to the pavement, which must have been a very annoying and uncomfortable thing to do when pooping. (I then picked it up, with bag and whizzed it in the bin, like a good boy...)

I made it back home without any more leaves to the face but have now realised that summer has gone and the orange and brown leaves are going to be scuttling around for the next few weeks!

The stunning and artistic music videos of "Of Monsters and Men"

Of Monsters and Men, an Icelandic Indie/Folk band who have had top 20 hits in the singles and albums charts in the UK. The debut song "Little Talks" reached number 12 in the UK charts from "My Head is an Animal" and has been floating around the top 100 for over a year, re-entering the top 40 numerous times.

For me the album is amazing with "Little Talks," "Mountain Sound" and "King and Lionheart" song being some of my favourites. But not only have they been good to listen to the videos have also been visually stunning! Produced by WeWereMonkeys the videos for Little Talks and King and Lionheart show amazing artistic visual effects and provide a story and journey which relates to the song!
The video relates to the Nordic art style and blends a 2D rendered background with a CGI and live action imposed film sequence

I would recommend the whole album and hope you enjoy these amazing videos.

This is King and Lionheart:

And here is Little Talks

My favourite song from the album is Your Bones of which there is no video but I really hope they get WeWereMonkeys back in to do it!

Colder Weather on the way.

Temperatures are to topple this week as a cold front pushes down from the North. In some areas a temperature drop of 10C will be seen over the next few days. Temperatures so far for October have been quite high, with temperatures in some places reaching 21C.

Cool winds from the North will push in following numerous cold fronts which will push away the warmer air with temperature barely reaching double figures and dropping to low temperatures at night. The weather however, will stay dry and bright as high pressure builds to the West. They may possibly rise later next week when wind directions changed but this is the first blast of cooler weather we have seen in this autumnal season.

Good news at last!

So after months of waiting, yesterday I finally got the phone call I had been waiting for. As a result of an interview the previous week I had gained myself a graduate job, in something that I really wanted to be in!

It's such a good feeling, showing that I can do it! That I came across well in the interview and that after waiting all this time I have finally got the right job for me!

This comes after months of job searching, endless cover letters and applications and an odd interview or two. It doesn't half get you down whilst applying for jobs. These summer months have been really hard. I mean during this time I did have a job, which was good to take my mind off looking, but I did really want a job to do with my degree and put use my passion for my subject.

But yes there were some really down days. When other people were being successful or when it gets to a point when people have been working a whole year and you are still trying to find that right job and when you are just hearing nothing back from the companies. But it does pay off, eventually you do get the job you want.

I had to wait a long time but finally my luck changed and I bagged it!

I now have the big move to deal with, finding a place to live. So spending weeks looking at rentals is my next few weeks sorted. I am going to have to move to Norfolk right on the opposite side of the country. I feel that this is going to be the hardest thing as I have such a close family and some amazing friends, that I will dearly miss. But I will be back and need to embrace this change.

I am really excited to start and finally kick off my career in a great position. I can't wait to get my own place and start the adult life that many people have been doing for a while out of my friends. The progression that is on offer in this position is excellent and hopefully I can finally become a Geologist in industry!

I begin at the start of November! So check back and see how I am getting on!

But for those who are still looking! Your time will come, it will be tough but you just have to get through it. The right position is out there for you!
