Fryars - The Power

Now I just had to share this band. I've been hearing this song on the radio a few times and finally found it out who it is.

THE FRYARS

Now you may have heard this song before:

...which was out earlier in the year; "Cool Like Me" is another great song of theirs!

But the song I want to bring to your attention is "The Power"

Powerful, beautiful and highly relaxing. They provide an easy listening, chilled out and entertaining experience. Immerse yourself into a deeply relaxed phase (which can be said with many of their songs) and enjoy:

Like what you hear? They're EP is available now to buy off iTunes entitled "Radio PWR" which includes these epic songs. If you want to listen to more check them out on soundcloud here https://soundcloud.com/fryars

Maybe you're a superman, Hey?
Baby you're a superman.

Im going out, with the power
coming down with the force

Helicopter Crashes into Glasgow City Centre Pub

A helicopter has crashed into a pub in the city centre of Glasgow. The police helicopter crashed at around 10.25pm when The #Clutha pub was full of people listening to folk music. The wreckage of the helicopter could be seen from the street with the rotor blades and tail still seen sticking out of the top of the building.

The police confirmed there was 8 people killed including those on the helicopter. There were 32 people sent to hospital in ambulances. The police said that a rescue operation was still underway this morning, with two officers and a civilian believed to be on board the helicopter. The incident comes on a day of celebration for Scotland, St Andrew's Day.

The response of the public and emergency services has been praised in the aid of rescuing those inside and treating the injured. The area of the city is still cordoned off as investigations begin.

There have been reports from some witnesses that the helicopter came down on top of the flat roof of the Clutha before the roof gave way after a few seconds. Whether the helicopter had tried to land or indeed did crash into the building it is unconfirmed.

The Draw

From the extended Bastille album, "All This Bad Blood" another epic song:

In my left hand there is a familiar
In my right hand there’s a great unknown
I can see the madly different brasses
but I’m drawn to wilder nights at home
don’t listen to your friends,
see the despair, behind their eyes
Don’t listen to your friends,
they only care and want to know why

I can feel the draw
I can feel it pulling me back
it’s pulling me back
it’s pulling me
I can feel the draw
I can feel it pulling me back
it’s pulling me back
it’s pulling me

Are you twisting way beyond what’s known
In your mind is the words that they might say
to be floating farther than what’s known
when you go home everything has changed
don’t listen to your friends,
see the despair, behind their eyes
Don’t listen to your friends,
they only care and want to know why

I can feel the draw
I can feel it pulling me back
it’s pulling me back
it’s pulling me
I can feel the draw
I can feel it pulling me back
it’s pulling me back
it’s pulling me

(woah oh oh oh…
woah oh oh oh oh…)

I can feel the draw
I can feel it pulling me back
it’s pulling me back
it’s pulling me
I can feel the draw
I can feel it pulling me back
it’s pulling me back
it’s pulling me

I can feel the draw
I can feel it’s pulling me back
it’s pulling me back
it’s pulling me
I can feel the draw
I can feel it pulling me back
it’s pulling me back
it’s pulling me
I can feel the draw
I can feel it’s pulling me back
it’s pulling me back
it’s pulling me
I can feel the draw
the draw
the draw
the draw…
the draw…

Decomposing Whale explodes

Now to those that aren't comfortable watching things that are a little gory or seeing dead creatures, then stop and don't press play!

But this was a rare event capture on camera: A sperm Whale that had died from natural causes in the Faroe Islands was being inspected by a marine biologist when she cut into the carcass to exploding consequences. The Danish community wished to use the skeleton in a museum on the island so the biologist has the task of cutting it open.

A build of gas and water was the cause for the explosion as the Whale had been dead and decomposing for two days. Build up of gas is common but an explosion of guts and blood is quite rare.

Dinosaur Skeleton for sale

A skeleton of a prehistoric dinosaur have been on sale at auction today. The Diplodocus skeleton believed to be one of six almost complete skeletons in the world was sold for £400,000.
The Diplodocus dinosaur was 17m long (56ft) and was found in Wyoming in the USA in a quarry. It was reassembled in Rotterdam but taken and sold today in West Sussex.
The dinosaur, nicknamed Misty was likely snapped up for a museum or hotel/shopping centre in the far east. The Natural History Museum London did not bid as they have a cast of a diplodocus already on display.

#TrueHeroes

With the amount of films, books and TV shows with superheroes in at the moment. It is good to look at the people that are the true heroes in this real world. No fiction, but true courage to put their life on the line for others including random strangers they don't even know. Would you be a hero if a situation in which someone's life was in danger arose?

Check out the CCTV Footage captured from around the world in which Everyday people put their life on the line to save a stranger:

Only the super power of courage is needed.

Settling in well

Well its been three weeks since I have been at my new job and new home away from home and it has gone so quick! the weeks have flown by! With payday next week along with the end of November where has this month gone!

I am really enjoying my new job! It was tiring at first and I have been getting completely filthy but I am loving it! I am still learning things each day and there are so many things to do and remember! But I am doing well and the day goes quick which is great.

Beach at the end of my road :)

Living in Lowestoft is a lot different from home, I haven't had much chance to venture about yet, as by the time I have got home from work its dark. But I got the chance to visit the beach and the local cinema last weekend (Which only had 20 seats in that screen) and a taste of the local pubs. I also visited Southwold which is beautiful, a cosy coastal village with amazing shops, cafes, a brewery and a quirky pier. This weekend I plan on checking out more of the area and visit the big city of Norwich which will be exciting!

But all in all I am enjoying my new life, I am missing home and friends but it wont be long till Christmas now and I have my train booked home so it will be great to have a good catchup with Christmas activities!

Timber

Now then to some people, the sound of Pitbull and Ke$ha alone, fill them with emotion and hatred, but I'm one of the few that aren't too bothered and see them as great party hits that I will be grooving to on the dance floor extremely drunk. This one sounds pretty good and has stepped onto the FarmHouse dance music like Avicii with a country feel. Called "Timber" Ke$ha features on this Pitbull track:

Italian Island, Sardinia hit by "Apocalyptic storm"

An Italian Island in the Mediterranean has been hit by a severe storm with some media sources calling it Cyclone Cleopatra. The Italian government has declared a state of emergency for the island which is the second biggest in the Mediterranean. At least 18 people have been killed from the storm with further reported missing after rivers burst their banks and swept away homes and bridges.

The area near Olbia was the worst hit with some areas under 3m of water. More than 440mm of rainfall fell over just 90 minutes. A Brazilian family were killed in their basement as it filled with water with others killed from collapsing bridges.

Its surprising that the media have not been showing more of this on the news, as it is a devastating event that has killed more people than the tornadoes that swept across the US last week, along with the fact that it is an area in Europe that isn't usually hit by these storms

The Mediterranean has had some severe weather over the past few weeks.

Avicii: Hey Brother

The new single from Avicii has been announced from his album True which reached number 2 in the charts earlier this year.

The song continues on the Country style house dance or as someone cleverly made FarmHouse style. Its another great hit and will be a huge club hit this winter!

Snow on the way

This week will see the first big taste of winter with cold winds from the North bringing freezing temperatures and snow showers. Forecasters predict a fortnight of chilly weather with temperatures dipping below freezing overnight as Arctic winds blast in!

Snow is predicted for areas of Scotland from tomorrow with showers moving southwards throughout the week affecting many regions of the UK.

Its the first blast of Winter after a generally mild few weeks.

Some newspapers this week exaggerated the threat of snow with some newspapers stating that we are to experience 6 inches of snow!

They also reported a "worst winter in living memory" as long range forecasts show wintry conditions.

Predicting weather over long periods is near impossible and inaccurate but chances of another year of heavy snowfall are possible after the last few years. With this year seeing the coldest Easter on record with severe snowfall and drifts and the previous winters, it seems that we are in a bit of a phase of bad winters, will this winter be as bad? Probably not, but with snow showers moving in quite early in the season you never know!

Previous winters have seen the whole UK covered in snow

Chloe Howl

Now, I thought I'd introduce you to this amazing singer who I caught supporting Bastille last month. She was fantastic and I was sure that I recognised her voice and style somewhere before, it wasn't till her last song that I realised I had heard her on BBC Radio 1 once. She has got a great voice and below is her latest single which I just cant get enough of. She is only 18 and an interview with the guardian she told how her melodies and edgey lyrics bring together a: "Steak and kidney pop ... I always take the mick out of bubblegum pop, so I thought that would be better. My music's meatier. It's a hearty meal. No messing about, it's proper food."

So have a quick listen and you can see how great she can sing and how stunning she looks!

Her album is due next year and this single "Paper Heart" will be available soon.

Here is her first single "No Strings"

Dinovember

At the bottom of this post is a link to an amazing website to follow. Dinovember:

There is a couple who every year, devote the month of November to convincing their children that, their plastic dinosaur figures come to life whilst they sleep! Its a hilarious and awesome little prank.

This is why they do it: Because in the age of iPads and Netflix, we don’t want our kids to lose their sense of wonder and imagination. In a time when the answers to all the world’s questions are a web-search away, we want our kids to experience a little mystery. All it takes is some time and energy, creativity, and a few plastic dinosaurs.

Its a great idea and I feel the same way, children these days are introduced to electronic goods and not going out playing with their toy cars in their dirt!

So here is the link to see a load more pictures: https://medium.com/thoughts-on-creativity/6f4cb1886d41

Lily

Lily Allen is everywhere at the moment and is already at number 2 with her Keane cover for the John Lewis Christmas Ad! But this is the first main single from Lily after a few years absence whilst she has had two children! She is still on fine form and this song is going to be a huge hit! The song, Hard Out Here video is below and is micky take of Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke songs. The song does contain some swearing and also some booty shaking which for some may be pushed too far! But its controversial as well as showing the issue.

Lily has admitted being nervous about her comeback single saying she hasn't slept in weeks.

Out this Sunday, take a listen!

The Night of the Doctor

BBC had released a special Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Prequel! To get the fans even more excited for the 50th celebration episode "Day of the Doctor" on the 23rd November! The prequel named "The Night of the Doctor" sees the Paul McGann reprise his role as the 8th doctor! Watch the short prequel here:

The Metro created this synopsis:

"The prequel features two scenes. In the first, a young woman named Cass is trapped on a crashing spaceship and encounters Paul McGann’s eighth Doctor, who has arrived to rescue her. However, she recoils in fear upon realising he is a Time Lord with a TARDIS, saying that there is no longer any difference between the Gallifreyans and the Daleks.

The second scene finds a dying but temporarily revived Doctor among the Sisterhood of Karn, a female order dedicated to protecting the Sacred Flame, the source of the life-extending Elixir of Life.
Their high priestess Ohila sees the Doctor as perhaps the last hope to end the ongoing Time War between the Daleks and the Time Lords, and questions his decision not to join the battle. She offers him an elixir to control the outcome of his regeneration. He chooses to become a warrior and regenerates into John Hurt’s Doctor."

Paul McGann was the 8th doctor and the 9th was Christopher Eccleston which means that John Hurt has been confirmed to play the doctor in between! The real 9th doctor. There are a lot of further links to past series' and companions!

A clip from the Day of the Doctor will be shown in tomorrows Children in Need.

Noah

The first trailer for the new biblical epic "Noah" film has been released today, directed by  Darren Aronofsky and starring a great cast which includes Russell Crowe (as Noah), Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Jennifer Connely.

Gorilla

Okay so I have another guilty pleasure and its not just the fact that it is a Bruno Mars' song but also the fact that many people and radio djs don't like the song because of the lyrics and its meaning! But I don't always focus on the lyrics and listen to the tune and this one has grown on me probably because radio 1 play it every five minutes!

So if you haven't heard it then listen to radio 1 as you wont be waiting long for it to come on.... or watch it here:

Video is a bit of a raunch too

The strongest storm ever recorded

US and British are heading to the Phillipines after the weekends devastating Typhoon in which has been tipped to be the strongest storm ever recorded. It was stronger than Hurricane Katrina and blasted the Phillipines with 195mph winds killing thousands of people and affecting over 10 million people. It was feared that 10000 were killed in the Tacloban district alone. The areas affected and the scale of devastation has been said to compare of that of the boxing day tsunami in 2004. It is believed that strong winds flattened buildings, tore apart towns and heavy rain lead to flooding along with a 13ft sea surge in some areas. Pictures show boats and ships strewn along coastlines amongst rubble and wreckage of buildings.

pictures from the bbc
The Phillipines is battered by more Typhoons than any other location on the planet and Typhoon Haiyan came late in the season.

The UN has appealed for more aid but there are fears that due to the devastation there isn't much getting to those that need it. With trees blocking roads and runways to small.

Shows the area affected by Typhoon Haiyan
There have been further stormy weather in the area and hundreds of homes with no roofs have left people in the open. There has also been a 4.8 magnitude earthquake which hit Bosol which is causing further disruption.

Spread of infection and disease is the worrying thing at the moment, often the sting in the tail that kills the most people in these large disasters with no clean water and with bodies decaying in the debris.

Snow, Sex and Suspicious Parents

Im sure many of you have heard of the hilarious Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents TV show in which Mum and Dad follow their troublesome teens on Holiday to the party results in the Med and see what they get up to! Well the show is back with a whole new twist, the fact there is no sunny beaches and busy strips of clubs but the show heads to the ski slopes and follows teens on their wintry getaway! The ski holidays are getting more and more popular with the tweenties and there are hundreds of uni trips each year where people don't just go out for the snow and the slopes but as a great party destination and to get wasted! This new destination is likely to bring new laughs along with the usual stuff the show brings but its going to bring some shocked teens thinking they haven't fallen for the sun sex and suspicious parents type show!

Its on tonight on BBC3 at 9pm!

Epic Cloud Formations

Over the past few weeks we have had some wild weather which has seen some amazing cloud formations! I managed to capture a few on my phone one of which was yesterday after a huge downpour here in Lowestoft.

This epic cloud formation I saw at the side of the motorway. A heavy downpour can be seen underneath with a few flat level clouds and then an explosion of hazey cloud.

This one I caught yesterday. After travelling in a heavy downpour the storm moved out to sea where there was some amazing formations and even possibly a waterspout but it was too far out at sea to confirm! This part of the formation however, has a bumpy bobbly effect beneath. These are known as Mammatus cloud formations, blobs of falling air as part of a stormy cumulonimbus clouds. They are rare and their formation is highly hypothesized.

I found these two pictures on the BBC weather website of the same cloud formation! It seems other people thought it was a rare and epic sight.

BBBBonfire

Remember Remember the fifth of November! Its Bonfire night! Where the skies are filled with colour and the air is hazy with smoke.

So here are two awesome tracks to celebrate this day!

Happy Bonfire Night!

For those that don't celebrate bonfire night this is why we celebrate it:
The night is also known as Guy Fawkes Night, who is Guy Fawkes well he is a man who a member of the gunpowder plot who was arrested whilst guarding explosives beneath the House of Lords on November the 5th 1605. He was part of a failed conspiracy to assassinate the Protestant King James I of England. The public celebrated that the plot had been foiled and the King was not harmed by lighting bonfires in the streets.
It has been celebrated every year since with often a "Guy" made of wood and straw being placed at the top of the bonfire.

A New Chapter

So this weekend I moved from my little town in a West Pennine Valley and moved to the flat plains of East Anglia!

Having successfully got a job in the nearby area at Fugro Alluvial, I have moved into a house share in Lowestoft. Its exciting to have my own space, be close to my job and meeting new people. I have been looking forward to starting the new job and today being the first day, of which I enjoyed, got me even more excited about the future and where the job can take me!

So after the long 5 hour drive and a very nasty puncture which cost me a new tyre! I made it to my new home away from home and unpacked all belongings.
My house share is in a beautiful old Victorian house in a lovely area with the town centre a ten minute walk and the beach at the end of the road! The coastline here is beautiful with some fantastic golden beaches of which I cant wait to get on in the summer! Though there is much coastal erosion and some precarious properties on the cliff edge.

Some facts about where I live for you, it is the most Easterly point on the United Kingdom and for me I am more likely closer to the Netherlands than my home town! It is the location of one of the first human settlements in the UK with evidence of tools and humans from over 700,000 years ago.

I am so excited for my new chapter and meeting new people and making new friends. Its going to be challenging being so far away from home and my family and friends but I will be fine!

Big Move

So this weekend is the weekend of the big move!

I am packing away my life and moving to the Far East..... of England.
A new job, a new home and a new chapter of my life!

So I have a busy few days of packing all my stuff and then a long 5 hour drive from West to East followed by a good settling in period before starting my job on Monday!

Boxes, suitcases and bags are strewn around the house and the car is ready!

As there is a lot going on and I need to settle down, there maybe a few days of quiet period on the blog! But will be back to share my new experiences and to let you know how I am getting on moving to a new place.

I am moving to the flat lands of Norfolk with the beach at the end of my road in a nice big old Victorian house (Houseshare.) I have such a close family and some amazing friends, that I am going to miss but I'm excited to start the new job and make new friends.
