Snow on the way

This week will see the first big taste of winter with cold winds from the North bringing freezing temperatures and snow showers. Forecasters predict a fortnight of chilly weather with temperatures dipping below freezing overnight as Arctic winds blast in!

Snow is predicted for areas of Scotland from tomorrow with showers moving southwards throughout the week affecting many regions of the UK.

Its the first blast of Winter after a generally mild few weeks.

Some newspapers this week exaggerated the threat of snow with some newspapers stating that we are to experience 6 inches of snow!

They also reported a "worst winter in living memory" as long range forecasts show wintry conditions.

Predicting weather over long periods is near impossible and inaccurate but chances of another year of heavy snowfall are possible after the last few years. With this year seeing the coldest Easter on record with severe snowfall and drifts and the previous winters, it seems that we are in a bit of a phase of bad winters, will this winter be as bad? Probably not, but with snow showers moving in quite early in the season you never know!

Previous winters have seen the whole UK covered in snow
