Another week of devastating incidents

These things definitely come in three's don't they. Earlier this year in July I blogged about the horrifying train crash that killed many people in Canada when a runaway freight train carrying oil derailed and exploded in a busy town centre which happened in the same week a plane crashed on the runway at San Fransisco airport and a train killed some people in France in its worst train disaster in several years when it derailed and hit the platform.

Then only 2 weeks later a devastating train derailed in Spain as it was travelling much to fast around a sharp bend killing more than 70 people and injuring hundreds. This happened in the same week 38 people were killed when their coach careered off a bridge in Italy and the driver of a train was killed in a head on collision in Switzerland.

And now in the last month of the year we are talking of similar events, 3 events in which many people lost their lives.

As many of you know on Saturday a helicopter crashed into a pub in Glasgow city centre in a bizarre and horrifying incident claiming 9 lives.

Then on the following day a train crashed in New York city killing 4 people and injuring over 60. It was today announced it was 82mph on a 30mph bend when it ran off the rails. It is not known yet whether it was mechanical failure or human error that was the cause of the trains high speed. But its a similar incident to that which happened in Spain.
And today 100 vehicles were involved in multiple pile ups on a stretch of road in Belgium. With one person who has died and 60 injured.

Its horrible that so many lives are being lost in these circumstances on what we rely on as public transportation networks and in everyday activities. Especially so close to Christmas.

The accidents come on the weekend when a much loved film star Paul Walker was killed along with a friend in a crash in LA. Devastating fans of the Fast and Furious franchise in which he was still filming in a further instalment.

RIP
