This week Scotland has experienced a rare phenomena, somethnig you would expect to see in a hot dry desert, yes a sandstorm!
Strong winds over the past few days have hit parts of Scotland picking up debris, trees, branches and a large amount of dust.
In Moray, gales whipped up sediment from the local beaches reducing visibility. Trees, branches and an advertisement boards were brought down in Glasgow.
Gusts of up to 73mph have been seen across Scotland as deep depressions pass above. In some places large dunes were forming across the road and snowploughs had to be used to clear the route!
But why is it picking up so much debris, well along with the strong winds the land is very dry after little rainfall over the past few months meaning more material to whip up
