The Worlds Largest Wind Farm is connected to the grid of the Kent Coast

The London Array, 20km off the coasts of Kent and Essex is made up of 175 turbines and is the largest wind farm in the world. The site generates a massive 630MW of energy, enough to power nearly half a million homes a year. Today marked the day of the last turbine switching on, now reaching full capacity!

There are further phases planned to extend the number of turbines so that over a GW of energy can be produced. The project is funded by DONG Energy, E.ON, and Masdar.

The UK has one of the largest capacity for wind power in the world and has the highest number of planned projects up to 2020.
