Godzilla Remake (2014)

Ohhhh myyy goooosh

I was at the cinema yesterday and whilst waiting through all the adverts including the annoying EE one and the M&Ms red carpet, I noticed a two word sentence that scrolled across the bottom that got me very very excited. "Godzilla Remake?"

The 1998 film in which Godzilla tears up the streets of New York and causes mass destruction was and probably still is one of my favourite films even with many people thinking it was a "cheesy film," a "dire disaster remake" and a "disappointment at the box office". I still quite like it and my 7 year old self certainly did; a huge dinosaur, monster mayhem in the centre of New York with explosions, jet planes, the army and shear panic it was a good film for a kid :) It even spawned a kids tv series which wasn't to shabby either?!
The ending which opens it up to a possible second film has kept me excited for years! But I soon got to believe that there wasn't going to be another film and was saddened on the now pessimistic reviews of the 1998 film.

So I believed there was to be no more.

I got excited around the Cloverfield trailer which was very similar and at first with no clues on to the monster or name of the film it looked possible to be a sequel! But it wasn't.

So seeing that there is Godzilla Remake has given me a huge shock! The big monster is back and its been in development for a little while and is looked for release in 2014! NEXT YEAR!!!

So here is the news:

It is being directed by Gareth Edwards.

It has been taken over by Legendary pictures.

Set for release on the 16th May 2014.

Production kicks off next month in Vancouver.

The film will be a live action with a CGI Monster.

A screen shot is the only thing that has been released so far, which was shown at last years comic con.

A screen shot of a ravaged city was leaked online but has recently been removed.

It is rumoured that there will be more than one monster (possibly three) in which they will fight rather than fighting with the US Army.

The film will be in 2D and 3D.

It is rumoured that Godzilla will use his atomic breath and will fight at least one other monster!

It is rumoured that the film will focus on a soldier who is in battle while the three monsters fight, almost like a "battle los angeles" in which aliens attack but the film only shows the point of view of the US Army.

Elizabeth Olsen and Gareth Edwards are confirmed with Bryan Cranston and Aaron Johnson rumoured.

So very exciting indeed! I will update with news on the film on this blog so keep checking back!

  1. You should know that this upcoming Godzilla movie will be
based off the original, it won't have any connection to the 1998 film.
It was mentioned during the early interviews of this movie back in
    2011.

Still, can't wait for this movie! The king is back!
