As the big freeze begins to ease, the next big worry is flooding from all the melting snow! There has been some significant snowfall over the last week and the melting snowfall along with further rain across the weekend will increase the risk of flooding severely!
However, the Environment Agency today came up with some good advice to reduce the risk of flooding which everybody can do and something that is really fun!
They said to build lots of snowmen!
So why build snowmen? Well compacted snow takes longer to melt, so as the snow begins to melt, the large piles of snow and of course snowmen stay around a little longer which means less meltwater entering the catchment!
