Once Upon a Time gets 3rd Series and Spin Off: Trailer

We might only be on episode 7 out of 22 in the UK on the second series but in America they have just finished Series 2 and announced the news that ABC had renewed Once Upon A Time for a Third Series!! Woohoo, great news. However, they also released the news that ABC had confirmed that they will be broadcasting a spin off stand-alone series named "Once Upon A Time In Wonderland!" Exciting eh? It just shows that this epic TV show is doing really well. Hopefully the series will be picked up by Channel 5 here in the UK!

The two shows have been stated to have two clear separate identities but will have numerous crossovers, one of which will be that the first episode begins in Storybrooke. The spin off is written by the same guys who do the main show, so expect no real change in storytelling. The producers are trying to keep with the same cast to continue with other roles which may be included, including the Mad Hatter, but a large new cast has been made for this, many of which are English Born Actors including Sophie Lowe and Michael Socha.

Here is the synopsis:

In Victorian England, the young and beautiful Alice (Sophie Lowe) tells a tale of a strange new land that exists on the other side of a rabbit hole.  An invisible cat, a hookah smoking caterpillar and playing cards that talk are just some of the fantastic things she’s seen during this impossible adventure.  Surely this troubled girl must be insane and her doctors aim to cure her with a treatment that will make her forget everything.  Alice seems ready to put it all behind her, especially the painful memory of the genie she fell in love with and lost forever — the handsome and mysterious Cyrus (Peter Gadiot).

But deep down Alice knows this world is real and just in the nick of time, the sardonic Knave of Hearts (Michael Socha) and the irrepressible White Rabbit (John Lithgow) arrive to save her from a doomed fate. Together, the trio will take a tumble down the rabbit hole to this Wonderland where nothing is impossible.

As I haven't seen the rest of series 2 yet, I'm not sure whether Wonderland plays a role within the rest of the series or not, but whatever this spin-off series looks amazing, almost like a film, it will definitely be a great stand alone show with some connections. Here is the trailer:

The show will begin broadcasting towards the end of the year.
