It has come around early this year hasn't it! Pancake day (Shrove Tuesday) is a greaaaaaat day which involves eating lots and lots of PANCAAAKES!!! A day you would eat up all your fatty foods before Lent. But I ain't doing anything for Lent so its just another day of eating lots of food :)
So what do you have on your pancakes? You like em savoury or like em sweet?!
I normally just have sweet ones, pretty boring, sugar and lemon but I do like a few crazy ones too and today I have been wanting a Cheese and Ham one soooo bad! I preferably like the nice thin ones.
I haven't yet made pancakes today but are planning to for supper yum!
Are you a whiz when coming to cook pancakes? Are you an excellent tosser?!
So here are some amazing pancakey facts for you whilst you munch over your pancakes!
- The first pancake recipe was listed back in the 5th Century!
- We have been eating pancakes traditionally on Shrove Tuesday for over 1000 years!
- Before baking soda was invented, cooks often used fresh snow as it contained ammonia, which helped the pancakes come out fluffy and soft.
- The second side of a pancake only takes half the amount of time to cook as the first.
- Brits will eat a staggering 52 million eggs on Pancake Day – that’s 22 million more than on a regular day.
